LAWRENCE ART SOCIETY
Encouraging amateur artists in Devizes since 1953
We're a group of amateur artists based in Devizes, and our aim is to encourage interest in art with demonstrations, classes, outings, workshops and a major annual exhibition in November.
The Lawrence Art Society was founded in 1953 and named after Sir Thomas Lawrence (1769 - 1830). Thomas was the famous royal portrait painter who grew up in Devizes whilst his father was landlord of the Bear Hotel.
Most of our members are artists with a wide range of interesting work - and we always welcome more enthusiasts to join us !
Meetings are usually held on the first Monday of the Month at 7.00 pm (except August) in the Assembly Rooms at Devizes Town Hall, however due to the COVID-19 restrictions we are temporarily showing the monthly demonstrations as Zoom meetings.
Annual Membership (from January) is £20 (£6 for students), with £2 for each monthly meeting (at the door), or £3 for non members and guests. From July, subscriptions are half price.
If you'd like to see what the society is all about - please come along to one of our regular meetings, or e-mail to get in touch - you'd be made very welcome!
To contact us: You can email Lsa.devizes@gmail.com or just come along to a meeting and make yourself known at the door.
